Bedse Caves

If you want to spend a peaceful Saturday morning at some beautiful place in all this scorching heat and wish to be home before the sun actually scorches you – this is the place!

Bedse Caves are located just 50 km from Pune and if you are to start from Hinjewadi, here is map:

Hinjewadi to Bedse Caves

The approach road is well maintained and picturesque is beautiful all along- until the Bedse Gaon.

Midway we stopped to treat our eyes

After reaching the village, you need to take a left turn on the rough patch of almost a Kilometre and park the vehicle in an open area.

We thought we would treat ourselves to vada pav’s there just like at other such places in the city. Unfortunately, there were no stalls; neither was there a single person in the whole wide vicinity. This meant we had to climb a few hundred steps without breakfast!

This mango tree came to our rescue.

Gautam using his strength and skills to break mango! His manager after looking at the picture said show such skills at work.

We had one each on the way.
In-taking enough calories for our way up
Here are the videos of our ascend shot by Vivek Dabir. Make sure you view them in full screen and full HD to get a feel.

These were the Buddhist caves so there has to be a Chaitya (Prayer Hall). It’s an amazing place to meditate as there is so much peace and no one to disturb. (I am soon to be found here)

The entrance had beautiful carvings.

Besides these – there were rooms where the Monks would have stayed; also there was some ingenuous water purification system.

I wrote the below piece for this picture

What do you seek at every sacred place?
Make a conscious endeavour to open the window of your heart.
For the beauty lies inside;
Drop the curtain of “I” and know thyself

On our way back, we had a sumptuous breakfast and by the time we were home, it was no more than 12 pm.

This is also the time when people are booking tickets for Bahubali2.
Bahubali2 Ticket  + Transport + Snacks  =  Rs 500
Trip to Bedse caves + Transport + Snacks + Ghost Stories + Office Bitching   =  Rs 250

PS. The comparison is given to encourage my office colleagues to not miss these trips either for fun or what we would talk behind their back! πŸ˜€

I wish I knew of this place while I was in Pune. Visit-worthy indeed.
