Kulfi/Gole Wala Summer
Summers have begun. During childhood, we would anticipate the sound of the Kulfi/Gole wale uncle’s bell.
Family members would never decline our request and hand us that 5 – 10 rs note. Being “broke” was probably not part of the dictionary at that time or maybe that expression on our face was more worthy than the money.
It was an adventure to run in the scorching heat towards his Thela. We learned patience while waiting for him to serve other orders and hang around for our turn.
The most difficult task was to choose between different flavours and sizes. Happiness was a simple, inexpensive and a daily affair.
