Life Imprisonment – A conversation with a baby monkey
Monkey: Sir, can you please help me with one thing?
Human: With what?
M: Open this lock here, been trying to get out of this cage since I was born.
H: Why? People come here to educate themselves about different animals like you.
M: Educate sir? I think you are mistaken, this is not how we live naturally, even our behaviour is different.
H: That’s fine, at least we can see you closely enough.
M: True. However, you can also watch us in our usual habitats with those Drones and hidden cameras in a high resolution.
H: Yes, that’s all there yet nothing matches the feeling of a live performance.
M: I wish we had a tinge of feelings left but alas they have left this enclosure, leaving just our body.
H: Oh come on, look at the positive side – you get to eat lovely food with no effort on your part.
M: Its as disgusting as your mess food. Unfortunately, we have no other option either. Sometimes we don’t even eat it and then zoo keepers assume we are sick and call the doctors.
H: Wow, free medical check-up even we don’t have those benefits. See, even in Big Boss House, contestants have limited access to food and other facilities.
M: Sir, those people had a “choice” to participate in a “contest” which limits their freedom for a matter of a few days. But these bars, It’s life for us.
